We were very fortunate to have Dr Maureen Griffin, Forensic Psychologist as our Guest Speaker on 5th March 2015. She has visited over 120 schools across Ireland speaking to students, staff and parents regarding issues around social media and internet and mobile phone safety.
This issue is very relevant because of the dangers of social media and in particular cyber bullying which is of concern to every parent. Dr Griffin’s presentation will outline Irish students’ use of social media including social networking such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and online chat facilities. Resources to help parents navigate these unfamiliar areas and practical advice and tips for dealing with misuses of technology were offered by Dr. Griffin on the night.
