Open Evening 2023
We are delighted to invite 4th, 5th & 6th class girls and their parents to attend our annual Open Evening on Thursday 5th October. Doors open at 6:00pm with the Principals address at 7:30pm. TY Drama
St Al’s budding actors were out honing their theatrical skills in the sun last Thursday. They have already chosen the play that they will perform in March and it’s shaping up to be another good one! Stay tuned for more updates, we will be revealing the name of the play soon!

Welcome home Rachel
Fantastic excitement today have a World Championship Medal in St Als. We enjoyed a lovely morning celebrating with Rachel and her class. Welcome Lord Mayor of Cork
We welcomed Lord Mayor Counsellor Kieran McCarthy this morning to St Als. We were delighted he got the chance to meet Rachel who is just back from winning a bronze medal in the World Championships in Taekwon-Do. What an achievement and an amazing role model for our students. We thank Cllr McCarthy for taking the time to spend with our students this morning. They have great ideas now for their CBAs as well as his message to them to live their best story.
SUPERVISED STUDY
Supervised study has begun again in St Al's. All students are welcome to join. Study runs from 3:45pm-5:45pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Students can sign up and pay in advance at the reduced fee of €2 per session using the form available from outside Ms McGlade office or from the lower office. alternatively, they can 'pay as you go' at €2.50 per session. Study takes place in the library with a light snack in the canteen beforehand. Study does not take place on evenings of staff meetings or parent teacher meetings. School Community Garden Appeal for plants & thank you to TYs
Our wonderful Transition Years spent Monday morning in the garden with their teachers, Ms Whalley and Ms Lernihan, leading the way. The level of growth over the summer was quite astonishing and the weeds decided to flourish and take over ! The students were simply incredible in their enthusiasm and work ethic all day. The garden is now somewhat back to its former glory. We have been contacted by Peter Dowdall gardening expert with the Irish examiner who has asked to come in on Thursday next to do a piece on the sensory garden. World Championships Taekwon-Do Best of luck Rachel
Congratulations to Rachel 5th year who has been selected for the National Taekwon-Do Team to represent Ireland at the upcoming World Championships in the category of Junior Individual Female Sparring and has been training consistently for this tournament over the last number of months. The competition will take place in the coming week in Tampere, Finland. Best of luck to Rachel and all team Ireland in the World Championships
Student Council – 1st meeting Monday 4th August
The first meeting for Student Council will be happening this Monday 4th September in the Library. 13:10 - 13:25 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd year 13:25 - 13:40 for TY, 5th and 6th years All students are welcome to attend. You do not need to have attended Student Council last year or be nominated. Please come if you are enthuasistic and have an interest in getting inolved in school life and making the school a better place for all students.
