You are invited to have your say on the National Framework for Guidance.

In January 2022, Minister for Education, Norma Foley TD, established the National Policy Group on Lifelong Guidance to develop a coherent long term strategic framework. The National Policy Group comprises five government departments: The Department of Education (DoE), Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DFHERIS), the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY), the Department of Social Protection (DSP) and the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment (DETE).
The work of this group is focussing on ensuring a coherent national long-term policy on guidance through the development of an overarching National Strategic Framework for Guidance.

The group’s starting point is that guidance must provide a combination of information, advice and counselling services that can enable learners and potential learners to make better choices about their learning pathways and career and life aspirations.

As part of the work of the National Policy Group, members of the public are invited to give their views through the completion of a survey and/or the forwarding of a submission.

You can submit your ideas via online survey which can be found on the following page: Lifelong Guidance-Consultation (education.gov.ie). The consultation paper attached provides more information and can be used as a support to those providing their views.

You can also send longer written submissions to guidance@education.gov.ie, either as an individual or on behalf of your school.

The closing date for submissions and/or completion of the online survey is 15 February 2023.

Please note that survey responses/submissions received during this consultation may be published on gov.ie – Department of Education (www.gov.ie).
